Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Loose Ends began business in 1988 - 27 years!
What is your primary product or service?
We source and supply handmade papers, fibers, textiles, natural material, & ephemera for artists, designers, & craftspeople - uncommon materials for uncommon artists! We also create "projects' with the various materials to educate and inspire others.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
We loved travel and unusual "stuff" and so in 1988 we took off for other parts of the world to see what we could find. We have been able to combine both these passions into a wonderful business. We do our own sourcing overseas and pride ourselves on having a very unique mix of products for the creative person.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We do not buy from domestic distributors. We do all of our own sourcing, including unusual natural and organic decorative material (seashells, bones, driftwoods, etc.), and consequently our look is very different. This difference caught the attention of the HGTV people years ago at a trade show, and we eventually did many different guest appearances on a variety of "how-to" and design shows like The Christopher Lowell Show, The Carol Duvall Show, etc. We also wrote a design column for The Statesman Journal for 3 years.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location - 2805 19th. St SE Salem Oregon 97302
Provide detailed directions to your location
We are on 19th St SE, just off McGilchrist, between Pringle Rd and 25th (airport). 19th only turns south and we are on the right hand side about 3 blocks down - just across from Crossroads.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash, Check and all credit cards except AX
Which areas do you service?
We are also an on-line business, so we service the world!

Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Art Reinke, Sandi Reinke & Thistle (our Baja rescue dog)
What are your hours of operation?
We are usually here 7 days a week, but there are only the two of us (plus the dog), and we are usually all gone together, so we ALWAYS tell people to call first to make sure someone is here - 503 390-7457
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
"I used to see you all the time on The Carol Duvall Show and LOVED your stuff and what you did - I wish they still showed "how-to" programs"
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?

A. Einstein - -
